U.S.S.A.?

(cartoon from Townhall.com)

Anyone else see the connection and the problem with these two articles from Drudge?

US State department urges "respect" for Venezuela referendum.

and

Some republicans are okay with obama nationalizing American banks.

...seems to me like the "change" we're supposed to "believe in" is that socialism is now a GOOD thing.

Anyone who voted for a dem or RINO last November owes the next generation of Americans an apology....and that's in addition to about $7000 or so of additional debt they owe to every man, woman and child.

....oh yeah, and the Sacred Sock Puppet signed the "stimulus" (socialize America) obamanation bill today, too - to which Wall Street responded with the Dow dropping nearly 300 points....

I know ... this stuff is driving me mad. At least I have my comic to draw. It lets me vent.

You got your comic, I've got this blog...we all deal how we can, bro.

I think you have more fun, though.
Color me jealous...LOL

It's got to be better than the mess your country's market fundamentalism has got us into. Only a one-eyed nutcase Yank could continue to support that. Your smart-arse ratbag bankers have done more damage than Al Qaeda.

As usual, 99, you're as fragged up as a soup sandwich.

Try some rational thought for a change and ask yourself a question which requires LOGIC (not drooling emotionalism) to answer correctly:

If capitalist bankers are "greedy" - as is a theological truism in your socialist mythology - what could possibly force them to make so many mortgage loans to so many people who patently COULD NOT RE-PAY THEM?

In other words, why would bankers suddenly go to such great lengths to GIVE AWAY SO MUCH MONEY THAT THEY'D NEVER GET BACK?

...and before you answer, try to IN-hale once in a while, first, will ya?
That oxygen stuff is actually GOOD for gray cells - even yours.

You obviously have no understanding of the structural absurdities of Wall Street. The emphasis was on making as much money as possible in the shortest possible time as possible, and getting the hell out of there. Have you heard of selling on commission - or is that beyond your ken? It's greed, pure and simple, without reference to ethics or long-term consequences.
Greed, driven by rampant materialism, and aided by under-regulation and sheer bloody incompetence is responsible. All the crap I'm hearing about bankers being forced to lend is an interesting example of denial.
Nobody was holding a gun at their heads. Then they have the arrogance to pay themselves bonuses with the taxpayers dollar.
In the army we had a saying - Why be a civilian and get stuffed around by amateurs? Join the military and get stuffed around by professionals. It takes a bunch of Yanks to do it with style. The behaviour exhibited by Wall Street recently was true of your military forty years ago in Vietnam - I was there - I saw them in action. They were a shower of shit and they knew everything - wouldn't listen to anybody. Not much has changed in forty years.

You appear to be an expert about "not knowing shit".

The "greedy bankers" would have to be suicidally stupid to crash their own business - except for the ones who padded their party-guest list with loads of democrat (socialist) politicos - by selling short on that much bad paper.

And you're confusing (of course) the banks with the traders on Wall Street - but then, they're all "running dog capitalists" to you, so you don't give a rat's ass.

Try some education:
Research "Community Reinvestment Act", "Clinton", "Fannie Mae" and "Freddie Mac", "Chris Dodd", "Barney Frank", and "ACORN" and "ACLU".
Use those search keywords, mix&match, have some fun, SEE the gun pointed at the mortgage markets, and maybe you'll get a clue.

You should also buy a GPS and a calendar.
It's not the '60's and your ass ain't in a Nam rice paddy.
...haven't you noticed?

Finally, congratulations are in order.
Your nearly incoherent rant, based on noting more than blind faith in socialist dogma, has confirmed your "progressive" theological indoctrination, without batting an eyelash or resorting to any form of logic or reason.

I'm sure your ordination to Vicar in the Church of Liberalism is already in the mail.

"The "greedy bankers" would have to be suicidally stupid to crash their own business"
Which is precisely what happened, and then the taxpayer had to bail them out. The Wall Street mantra - Privatise profits - socialise losses"

"what could possibly force them to make so many mortgage loans to so many people who patently COULD NOT RE-PAY THEM?"

In one word - greed - through inflated commissions as a consequence of letting the market rip - only in America....

"It's not the '60's and your ass ain't in a Nam rice paddy."

One of the reasons that we were more effective jungle fighters than the Americans was precisely that we kept out of the paddies. Read something about the Australian involvement - you're obviously blissfully ignorant of recent history. Most of the Yanks I met in country had no clue about any history except their own.

Again, reading your blog indicates that nothing much has changed. There is hope, however, given the events of the last few months.

Try "Vietnam - the Australian War" by Paul Ham.

"Greed".....
You're a one-trick-pony, and aren't even interesting any longer since you won't even give a passing nod to common sense.

You've obviously done zero real research into the topic, so your opinion is nothing more than socialist dogma regurgitated on command like a good little drone.

You're cassock and red beanie for the Church of Liberalism should arrive shortly.

In the meantime, you have committed the cardinal debate sin of becoming boring.

Only a leftist can think that having men, women and children blown to pieces is better than losing your home because you can't afford the repayments.

Check yourself into a mental hospital 17etc, you're seriously off your head.

Care for a little analysis of that nonsense MKKK?

9/11 attacks - Excluding the 19 hijackers, 2,974 people died in the attacks.

George Bush's Operation Iraqi Freedom - AKA "Getting square*" – Iraqi civilians – between 90805 and 99151 as at Thursday 26th Feb (Source Iraq Body Count).

US military deaths - 4,228, as at 29th January 2009 (Source – US military statistics for Operation Iraqi Freedom).

And after the Wall Street meltdown - Every three months, 250,000 new families enter into foreclosure. (Source – Mortgage Bankers Association – USA)

40000 repossessions per month in the UK (BBC Business News 20th Feb 2009)

I'd argue that a total of over 90000 civilian deaths, over 4000 military lost, and a quarter of a million tossed out of their homes is "more damage than Al Qaeda".

All of this down to decisions made by G W Bush and his nutcase advisers. I think my analysis is a tad saner than yours.

* "Getting square" – Australian slang for getting even or taking vengeance.
