On a sunny morning 11 years ago, I got up to news of a plane hitting one of the WTC towers in NYC.
While watching the talking-heads speculate and spin, I saw a second plane hit the other tower.
THAT was when I grabbed the alert roster for my platoon, picked up my phone, and started calling my troops.
I told them (or their wives, if they weren't home) that while I had nothing "official" yet, the OldSarge was pretty sure America was at war.
