Yon On Petraeus Report

Some time over the weekend, I'll be posting my take on the "18 Excuses" that I put up previously for the Interrim Report, updated to include the recent developments in Iraq - most of which GEN Petraeus reported to the prejudiced jackasses in Congress - but then I ran across Yon's take on it.....sorta.

Michael Yon is a no-bullshit, tell-it-like-it-is, warts-and-all embed who has spent more time in Iraq than even some of the troops on combat rotations.

If something deserves kudos, he'll say so.

If something is a soup-sandwich, he'll say so, too.

Here's where he explains HOW he gets the straight stuff, and not just a "happy tour" - what we called "dog and pony shows".

Here is where he describes how the "endgame" is beginning to take shape: http://www.michaelyon-online.com/wp/bread-and-a-circus-part-i-of-ii.htm

...and...

Is it perfect?

Nothing ever is....just look at our OWN Congress.

Is it doable?

Sure looks like it might work, since it's being driven by the people who LIVE there....but it'll take time.

The question is whether or not AMERICA has the patience to stick it out.

Great reporting from Yon, but the problem is that most of the media don't pick it up and therefore most people are unaware of it.
This is a battle in the information space as much (or more) than anything else and I can't help but feel we're losing it.

That's where we bloggers come in.

The unfortunate thing is if you don't have the patience now is, eventually you will have to learn it.

These bastards started their crap decades ago, and they're in it to win it and they are in it for the long haul, whether we like it or not.
